Old School Lego

My wife and I found this little gem at the Ephemera Fair, which we visted a few weeks ago. It's an early pattern book for Lego, a multipage document of inspiration and instruction, all without any words what-so-ever..well a few, but hardly enough to make it an English only document, as the small amount of translation required would have been printed on a 'text black' layer anyway.

I love the way that lego patterns both instruct and inspire at the same time. The pattern book helps give you new ideas for constructions, but the unit nature of lego  and the construction plans shown in the book, give you a step-by-step route to new methods  and techniques of making things which you can then fold into your own designs.
